UND IN DIR SOLLEN GESEGNET WERDEN – Es gibt viele Agadoth dazu, aber der eindeutige Sinn des Textes ist wie folgt: Ein Mann sagt zu seinem Sohn: «Mögest du so werden wie Abraham». Dies ist auch die Bedeutung, wo immer der Satz «Und in dir soll gesegnet werden» in der Schrift vorkommt, und das folgende Beispiel beweist dies: (1. Mose 48,20) «Durch dich soll Israel seine Kinder segnen und sagen: «G-tt möge dich machen wie Ephraim und Manasse».

AND IN THEE SHALL BE BLESSED – There are many Agadoth concerning this but the plain sense of the text is as follows: A man says to his son, “Mayest thou become as Abraham”. This, too, is the meaning wherever the phrase “And in thee shall be blessed” occurs in Scripture, and the following example proves this: (Genesis 48:20) “By thee shall Israel bless their children saying, “May G-d make thee as Ephraim and Manasseh”.
