Baruch HaShem, Shalom Aleichem Freunde,
einmal nahm ein Vater seinen Sohn mit einem Esel und sie gingen in eine andere Stadt. Sie trafen einige Leute und die Leute kommentierten: «Warum reitet niemand auf dem Esel, was für eine Verschwendung.» Und der Vater setzte seinen Sohn auf den Esel.
Sie gingen weiter, trafen andere Leute, und einige von ihnen sagten: «Warum reitet dieser kleine Junge, während der ältere Vater zu Fuß gehen muss, was für eine Chuzpe.»
Und sie tauschten die Plätze und gingen weiter, und sie trafen andere Leute, und jemand sagte: «Seht euch diesen Kerl an, dieser Junge muss auf der Straße laufen, während er auf dem Esel sitzt.» Sie fühlten sich sehr schlecht.
Nun saßen beide auf dem Esel und sie gingen weiter, und einige andere Leute sagten: «Seht euch diese grausamen Menschen an. Sie wollen dieses arme Tier töten!»
Sie stiegen vom Esel ab und fingen an, den Esel zu tragen, und die Leute fingen natürlich an, über sie zu lachen. Und so ist es auch bei den Menschen. Sie brauchen die Anerkennung der Gesellschaft, ihres Nachbarn dies und das. Und sie werden niemals all diese Menschen um sie herum zufriedenstellen. Wenn man keine Torah hat, wenn man keine Richtung hat, ist man verloren.
Man wird wie diese Leute sein.

once a father took his son with a donkey and they went to another city. They met some people and people commented: «Why is nobody riding the donkey, what a waste.» And the father put his son on the donkey.
They continued, they met other people and some of them commented: «Why this young boy is riding while the elderly father has to walk, what a chuzpah.»
And they switched the places and they continued and they met other people and somebody said: «Look at this this guy, this young boy has to walk on the road while he’s sitting on the donkey.» They felt very bad.
Now both of them were sitting on the donkey and they continued and some other people commented like: «Look at these cruel people. They want to kill these poor animal!»
They got off the donkey, they started carrying the donkey, people of course started laughing at them. And the same is going on with people. They need approval of society, their neighbor this, that. And they’re never going to satisfy all of these people around them. If you don’t have Torah, if you don’t have direction, you are lost.
You’re going to be like these people.
