«Und Gott segnete den siebten Tag und erklärte ihn für heilig, denn an ihm hörte Er auf mit allem Schöpfungswerk, das Gott getan hatte.»
Raschi: UND G-TT SEGNETE … UND ER HEILIGTE – Er segnete ihn durch das Manna, so dass an allen anderen Tagen der Woche für sie (die Israeliten) eine Omer für jeden Menschen fallen sollte, während am sechsten Tag die doppelte Menge dieses Brotes fallen sollte. So heiligte er es auch durch das Manna, damit es nicht auf den Sabbat falle (Genesis Rabba 11,2). Dieser Vers ist hier in Bezug auf das geschrieben, was in der Zukunft geschehen würde.

«And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy—having ceased on it from all the work of creation that God had done.»
Rashi: AND G-D BLESSED … AND HE SANCTIFIED — He blessed it through the Manna, that on all other days of the week there should fall for them (the Israelites) an Omer for each person, whereas on the sixth day there should fall twice as much of that bread. So, too, He sanctified it through the Manna, that it should not fall at all on the Sabbath (Genesis Rabbah 11:2). This verse is written here with reference to what would happen in the future.
